TUNRA Bulk Solids Prize for Best Performance in Bulk Solids and Particulates

As part of TUNRA’s mandate to advance the bulk materials handling discipline globally, TUNRA contributes to the continued education of students at the University of Newcastle in the field of bulk materials handling engineering. TUNRA is proud to announce that the 2019 TUNRA Bulk Solids Prize for Best Performance in Bulk Solids and Particulates has been awarded to Taylor Jobson, a student in the Discipline of Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering.

Taylor completed his bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical and Aerospace) at the University of Queensland in 2012. He worked briefly as a Project Engineer in the mining field before transitioning to work with conveyor components for Fenner Dunlop. During this time, he got the opportunity to work as a mechanical engineer tackling conveyor equipment, component and belting issues and solutions across Australia, New Zealand and PNG. This spurred his interest in bulk solids and materials handling and an opportunity arose to further his education and formalise his knowledge at the University of Newcastle, chosen because of their academic and research specialisation in the bulk solids field. Studying there allowed Taylor to learn from world renowned experts and discuss real-world applications for the theoretical work. Having now completed his Masters of Professional Engineering with a particular emphasis in bulk handling, he works as a Senior Mechanical Engineer for Australian Conveyor Engineering / Fenner Dunlop.
