Mechanical Engineering Safety Seminar 2023, by the NSW Resources Regulator

2 August 2023 @ 8:00 am - 3 August 2023 @ 5:00 pm

Senior Consulting Engineer, Dr Jayne O’Shea, has been invited to present  at the Mechanical Engineering Safety Seminar. Jayne’s presentation will provide an update on the recent changes and additions made to Australian standard AS1333: Conveyor belting of elastomeric and steel cord construction. The standard has been updated with the purpose of better reflecting the current capabilities of manufacturing and to align with international standards. One of the major updates includes the addition of a ranking system based on indentation rolling resistance results, which allows conveyor belts to be properly graded according to their energy efficiency performance.

The presentation will highlight the significance of these changes and additions for the conveyor belting industry in Australia and provide an overview of the benefits that the updated standard will bring to manufacturers, users, and regulatory bodies. Special attention will be given to the newly added ranking system, which will enable users to select conveyor belts that are optimal for their specific applications, resulting in reduced energy consumption.

Overall, the updated Australian standard on Conveyor belting of elastomeric and steel cord construction represents an important development for the industry. The presentation will offer valuable insights into the key changes and additions made and highlight how the updates will positively impact the industry.
