Iron Ore Testing for Reliable Design

June 22 @ 9:00 am - 12:30 pm
$550

This workshop will explore materials handling testing programs for iron ore operations and application to effective design. Sessions will include:

  • Flow Properties testing
  • Other specialised testing (including testing for Discrete Element Method DEM calibration)
  • Interface with geomet testing and considerations on sampling
  • Application of testing results to design
  • Iron ore-specific case studies

Workshop presenters

Dr Dave Bradney

Dr David Bradney is the Engineering Manager and a Senior Consulting Engineer at TUNRA Bulk Solids. He has over a decade of experience working in both research and industrial consultancy on a diverse range of challenging projects in the mining, manufacturing, and energy industries. Dr Bradney has a high level of expertise in the application of computational modelling regularly applying Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and Discrete Element Method (DEM) Modelling across a broad array of problems within the bulk material handling sector. In addition to his role with TUNRA Bulk Solids, Dr Bradney is also an Honorary Lecturer with the University of Newcastle, and currently delivers the Advanced Computer Aided Engineering course at both an Undergraduate and Masters level for the School of Mechanical Engineering.

Mr Kudzai Beta

Mr Kudzai Beta is a Mechanical Engineer with several years of experience at TUNRA Bulk Solids, specialising in bulk materials handling. Since first joining TUNRA in 2019, he has worked across a wide range of consulting projects, with a strong focus on Discrete Element Modelling (DEM) for transfer chute design, ore pass performance, including flow and wear optimisation.
He has extensive experience in flow properties testing, and has contributed to numerous projects across the coal, iron ore, gold ore and other minerals industries. Kudzai also acts as the Project Manager for some of TUNRA’s largest ongoing testing programs involving iron ore from the Pilbara region. Additionally to his work at TUNRA Bulk Solids, his background also includes a period as a Plant Engineer with MCi, supporting plant operations.
