SUMMARY:Webinar: Materials Calibration for DEM simulation of bulk solids\, with Dr. Daniel Grasser\, TUNRA Bulk Solids & LEAP Australia
DESCRIPTION:Discrete Element Method (DEM) simulations are an incredibly useful virtual tool to predict the behaviour of a bulk solid. However\, it is necessary to calibrate and experimentally validate your simulations with a set of material tests that represent a comprehensive set of flow regimes. In addition\, the abrasive wear of equipment can be predicted when the model is calibrated based on experimentally obtained wear rates. Join Dr. Daniel Grasser from TUNRA in a joint webinar\, hosted by LEAP Australia\, to discuss recommendations and best practices on materials calibration for DEM simulation of bulk solids. \nRegister here

SUMMARY:TUNRA Bulk Solids Iron Ore Workshop - How to make materials handling decisions
DESCRIPTION:A detailed understanding of material properties is crucial to ensure optimal performance in the handling chain. When it comes to iron ore\, specific test methods are available to assess its quality from a materials handling perspective. This helps differentiate between “good” and “bad” materials based on factors such as internal strength\, friction\, and cohesion. Testing outcomes provide valuable data\, which\, when interpreted correctly\, inform decision-making to ensure optimal performance under a range of conditions\, optimizing design\, processing and transport efficiency. \nHowever\, it is essential to recognize that the landscape of available deposits is constantly evolving. As we extract ore from new deposits\, new challenges are encountered\, driving innovation in handling\, processing\, and testing technologies. \nThe workshop on ‘How to Make Materials Handling Decisions’ will introduce: \n\nThe importance of materials testing\nMaterials testing available for iron ore\nWhat “good” and “bad” iron ores look like\nTesting outcomes and their interpretation\nBenefits of specific ore testing in the design process\nThe evolving challenges in testing and application\n\nFor further information on the event or to register
