SUMMARY:Conveyor engineering: idler roll and drive system insights
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nCase studies and performance lessons from the field \nThe seminar consist of two presentations. The first will focus on the importance of design\, manufacturing\, and selection of idler roll components. It will show how overlooking lubricant choice or geometric tolerances can cause premature failure and excessive replacements. Through real-world case studies\, the seminar highlights common design pitfalls and offers practical insights to avoid these issues in future projects. The second presentation will present the current method for designing conveyor drive systems\, in terms of traction\, lagging selection and belt tension management. The limitations associated with the current process will be discussed\, and current research into optimising this design process will be presented. Experimental test data and case studies will be utilised to differentiate between the different design methodologies \nLearning outcomes\nIn this presentation\, you will: \n\nlearn through case studies and the lesson learnt from these\nlearn how testing and optimised selection practices can prevent premature component failures and ensure more efficient and safer bulk solids handling operations\n\nProgram\nOnline (AEDT) \n\n9:00 pm – webinar commences\n10:00 pm – webinar concludes\n\nIn-person (AWST) \nEngineers Australia\nAllendale Square Level 10/77 Saint Georges Terrace \, Perth Western Australia\, 6000 \n\n5:30 pm – Registration opens\n6:00 pm – Presentation commences\n7:00 pm – Presentation concludes\n\nRegister for the event here

SUMMARY:Design of Bulk Solids Handling Equipment
DESCRIPTION:Dr Bin Chen from TUNRA Bulk Solids is presenting at an upcoming ASBSH hybrid event on 21st November.  Bin will be presenting on Design of Bulk Solids Handling Equipment\, registrations are now open for ASBSH members and non members wanting to attend the event. Please register via this link: Design of bulk solids handling equipment | Engineers Australia \nThe event will take place in the Engineers Australia Building in Perth or you have the option to join online. \nThe presentation will focus on the importance of designing silos and stockpiles tailored to the specific bulk materials being handled. It emphasizes how failing to account for the flow properties of materials and operational conditions can lead to significant issues\, including costly downtime and safety hazards. By exploring real-world case studies\, the webinar will demonstrate common design pitfalls and provide actionable insights on how to avoid these issues in future projects. \nLearning outcomes\nParticipants will learn valuable lessons on the importance of thorough material characterization and tailored design approaches to ensure efficient and safe bulk solids handling operations\, including: \n\nUnderstand the critical importance of designing silos and stockpiles specific to the bulk materials being handled.\nRecognise the impact of material flow properties and operational conditions on equipment performance.\nIdentify common design pitfalls in bulk solids handling equipment through real-world case studies.\nGain actionable insights into improving future project designs.\n\nWebinar \n\n9:00 pm AEDT – Event starts\n10:00 pm AEDT – Event closes\n\n In-person \n\n5:30 pm AWST – Registrations and networking\n6:00 pm AWST – Event starts\n7:00 pm AWST – Event closes
